Our social action plan focuses on three areas: E-Waste, Carbon Footprint and Waste/Recycling
Throughout the school year we take part in activities covering these three areas.
Dover Christ Church Academy is proud to have been one of the first schools in Kent chosen to take part in Kent County Council’s E-Waste Warriors Project — an initiative helping schools tackle the growing problem of electronic waste.
Our Eco Committee led a fantastic campaign encouraging students, staff, and families to bring in unwanted electrical items for recycling. The response was amazing, with dozens of items collected — from old cables and chargers to small appliances — all saved from landfill.
Students also took part in engaging workshops run by Kent County Council, learning how recycling e-waste helps recover valuable materials and protect the environment.
The project has been a brilliant success, strengthening our commitment to sustainability and showing that small actions really can make a big difference.
Well done to everyone at Dover Christ Church Academy for helping our community go green and become true E-Waste Warriors!
In November 2025, DCCA is proudly taking part in the Cut Your Carbon challenge — a nationwide Eco Schools initiative encouraging everyone to take simple, meaningful actions to reduce their carbon footprint.
Throughout the month, students and staff are reflecting on how everyday choices — from travel and energy use to food and technology — impact the planet.
One of our tutor groups is even going the extra mile by agreeing to giving up their phones for an entire day to cut down on digital energy use and raise awareness of the environmental impact of technology. Their commitment shows that when we work together, we can all take steps toward a greener future.
The enthusiasm across the school has been fantastic, with thoughtful discussions, creative ideas, and plenty of determination to make lasting change.
Well done to everyone taking part — Dover Christ Church Academy is truly leading the way in cutting our carbon!
At DCCA, students and teachers work together to reduce waste and recycle whenever possible. Recycling bins are placed in every classroom and hallway, making it easy to separate materials. We have compost bins to collect food waste from the cafeteria and classes will be organising regular litter picking sessions throughout the academic year.
By teaching students the importance of caring for the environment and taking practical steps each day, DCCA sets a strong example of how small actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet.
